IPOH:Menteri Besar Perak Ahmad Faizal Azumu mengharapkan Sukan Malaysia (SUKMA ke-19) Perak 2018 menjadi platform melahirkan ramai bintang muda yang berbakat dan bakal mencipta nama di peringkat Olimpik dan kejohanan dunia.

Menurut beliau, bukan mustahil bagi atlet Perak untuk mencapai matlamat itu menerusi sukan berprestij ini. Ahmad Faizal seterusnya menyuntik semangat atlet Perak dengan memetik kata-kata lagenda sukan tinju dunia, Allahyarham Muhammad Ali.

“Bagi menyuntik semangat anak-anak muda di hadapan ini, saya petik kata-kata lagenda sukan tinju dunia, Allahyarham Muhammad Ali: “Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact.

“It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing,” Ahmad Faizal dalam sembah ucapannya pada majlis perasmian pembukaaan temasya Sukma-19 di Stadium Perak pada Rabu.

Perasmian kejohanan dwi-tahunan itu disempurnakan Sultan Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah dengan lafaz perasmian disusuli gimik nyalaan obor berbentuk Keris Taming Sari serta letusan bunga api di luar dan dalam stadium.

Turut berangkat Raja Permaisuri Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim, Raja Muda Perak, Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa; Raja Dihilir Perak dan Raja Iskandar Dzulkarnain Sultan Idris Shah.

Menteri Besar dalam ucapannya turut menjemput semua atlet, pegawai dan penyokong yang bertanding untuk melawat destinasi-destinasi pelancongan sambil menikmati keindahan semulajadi di negeri Perak serta keramahan rakyatnya.

IPOH: Hujan renyai-renyai yang turun sebelum Sukan Malaysia Ke-19 Perak 2018 membuka tirai tidak menghalang lebih 20,000 penonton hadir ke Stadium Perak untuk menyaksikannya dalam suasana penuh meriah.

Sultan Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah berkenan mencemar duli untuk merasmikan sukan berprestij itu dengan lafaz perasmian disusuli nyalaan obor berbentuk keris dan persembahan bunga api di dalam stadium.

Turut berangkat Raja Permaisuri Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim, Raja Muda Perak, Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa dan Raja Dihilir Perak, Raja Iskandar Dzulkarnain. Hadir sama Menteri Besar Perak, Ahmad Faizal Azumu, Menteri Belia dan Sukan, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, menteri-menteri besar dan ketua-ketua menteri.

Persembahan pembukaan Indera Sakti yang melibatkan 700 peserta memukau penonton yang hadir. Pembukaan rasmi sukan itu bermula dengan dengan perbarisan lintas hormat kontinjen negeri-negeri membabitkan 7,464 atlet dan pegawai daripada 15 kontinjen dengan didahului kontinjen Sarawak yang juga tuan rumah SUKMA Ke-18 dua tahun lalu.
Perak selaku tuan rumah menghantar kontinjen terbesar dengan 587 atlet diikuti Sarawak (553), Selangor (543), Terengganu (542), Wilayah Persekutuan (532), Johor (495), Pulau Pinang (483), Kedah (464), Pahang (440), Sabah (416), Negeri Sembilan (411), Melaka (376), Kelantan (288), Perlis (280) dan Brunei (34).

SUKMA Perak 2018 merupakan penganjuran kali kedua tuan rumah sejak menganjuran pertamanya pada 1994. Temasya yang berlangsung dari 12 hingga 22 September ini menawarkan 427 pingat emas membabitkan 29 jenis sukan dan 39 venue di 12 daerah seluruh Perak.
