KUALA LUMPUR (FMT) | Seorang lelaki berusia 69 tahun didenda RM15,000 hari ini atau dipenjara selama enam bulan kerana membuat karikatur grafik yang menggambarkan Nabi Muhammad dan isterinya Aisyah.

Hakim Mahkamah Sesyen M.M Edwin Paramjothy mengenakan denda setelah Wai Foo Sing mengubah permohonannya dan mengakui membuat posting pada 17 Februari tahun lalu.

“Komen yang lucah dan menyerang oleh tertuduh disertai dengan catatan yang relevan,” kata hakim. “Tidak dapat dinafikan bahawa siaran tidak sesuai, menyinggung dan lucah yang dituduh berdasarkan agama telah melampaui kebebasan bersuara yang dijamin di bawah perlembagaan.”

Beliau menambah: “Jenayah menghina agama seseorang bukan hanya dilakukan terhadap pengikut agama tertentu tetapi juga terhadap nilai dan fungsi yang mewakili agama tertentu.”
