KUALA LUMPUR | Teknologi Pengenalan Frekuensi Radio (RFID) akan mula disediakan di sepanjang Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan, mulai 15 Januari 2022.

Kementerian Kerja Raya berkata RFID akan diperkenalkan untuk transaksi tol melibatkan kenderaan persendirian Kelas 1 di sepanjang lebuh raya yang merentangi Juru di Pulau Pinang hingga ke Skudai di Johor.

Ini sebagai persediaan untuk penamatan sistem Touch ‘n Go dan SmartTAG, tambahnya.

“Akan ada lorong untuk RFID di sepanjang lebuh raya bertol di pantai barat bagi membantu mengurangkan kesesakan lalu lintas, selaras dengan perkembangan teknologi yang pesat,” kata kementerian itu dalam satu kenyataan hari ini.

Kementerian juga berkata pembayaran melalui Touch ‘n Go dan SmartTAG masih tersedia.

Tetapi kedua-dua kaedah itu akan dihentikan secara berperingkat, kerana lorong RFID dilaksanakan mengikut Sistem Pengangkutan Pintar — Cetakan Biru ITS untuk Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF).

RFID, seiring dengan MLFF, menawarkan pengguna jalan raya pengalaman tanpa sentuhan yang lebih lancar semasa membayar yuran tol.

Ia disokong lagi oleh Touch ‘n Go eWallet dan tunai digital serta keupayaan tambah nilainya yang mengurangkan interaksi di kaunter.
