IPOH | Jabatan Tenaga Kerja (JTK) tidak lagi berkompromi dengan majikan yang tidak mematuhi Akta Perumahan dan Kemudahan Minimum Pekerja (Pindaan) 2019 (Akta 446) kerana mereka telah diberi tempoh 3 bulan untuk mematuhi undang-undang yang dikuatkuasakan pada bulan Jun.

Pengarah Piawaian Tenaga Kerja JTK Semenanjung Malaysia, Mohd Asri Abdul Wahab berkata, majikan harus menyedari perkara itu kerana masa yang cukup telah diberikan untuk mereka membuat pengaturan yang diperlukan.

“Mulai sekarang, JTK akan menguatkuasakan sepenuhnya Akta 446. Jika kita pergi ke tempat kerja atau tempat tinggal pekerja dan mendapati melanggar Undang-Undang ini, kita akan terus membuka kertas siasatan dan membawa majikan ke pengadilan,” katanya semasa operasi yang dijalankan di asrama kakitangan di Persiaran Taman Tasek di sini pada Khamis 26 Nov.

Mengulas lanjut, Mohd Asri berkata, majikan boleh memohon sijil penginapan secara dalam talian, dan jika gagal adalah satu kesalahan yang boleh dikenakan denda hingga RM50,000 bagi setiap pekerja.

“Saya menyeru majikan yang menyediakan tempat tinggal untuk menghubungi JTK untuk mendapatkan sijil, dan kami akan membantu memastikan tempat tinggal pekerja kondusif,” katanya.

Mengenai operasi hari ini, Mohd Asri mengatakan ia dilakukan serentak di lima negeri, iaitu Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Kelantan, Kedah dan Perak.

Katanya, pemeriksaan awal di Perak mendapati keadaan tempat tinggal tidak memuaskan, kerana banyak yang sesak.

“Secara kasarnya, ketika kita memasuki rumah yang dijadikan asrama dan melihat ada tilam di ruang tamu, itu sudah menjadi kesalahan dan ini bermakna terlalu banyak pekerja (tinggal) di rumah ini,” katanya, sambil menambah bahawa penguatkuasaan adalah sebahagian daripada usaha untuk membasmi unsur-unsur kerja paksa dan perdagangan manusia di negara ini.
