IPOH: Kerajaan negeri Perak menerima pujian dan ucapan tahniah daripada Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail atas kejayaan menganjurkan temasya Sukan Malaysia (Sukma) 2018.

Menurut beliau, Sukma kali ini mencatatkan sejarah tersendiri melalui penganjuran 427 acara daripada 29 jenis sukan di 39 lokasi pertandingan dan di semua 12 daerah di negeri ini.

Katanya, menerusi sukan ini, kerajaan negeri memberi peluang kepada seluruh rakyat termasuk di luar bandar menyaksikan acara yang dipertandingkan. Justeru, kata Dr. Wan Azizah, Kerajaan Persekutuan akan terus memberi sokongan penuh kepada penganjuran Sukma oleh negeri-negeri secara penggiliran.

“Kerajaan Persekutuan akan sentiasa bersama-sama membantu menjayakan temasya sukan ini sama ada dalam bentuk bantuan dana mahupun bantuan-bantuan terus daripada agensi berkaitan kepada negeri yang menjadi tuan rumah,” katanya semasa berucap pada penutup Sukma 2018 di Stadium Perak, Ipoh malam tadi.

Turut hadir Menteri Belia dan Sukan, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman dan Menteri Besar, Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

Menurut Dr. Wan Azizah, selepas Perak, Johor akan menyambut ketibaan kontinjen-kontinjen Sukma bagi edisi ke-20 pada tahun 2020. Sehubungan itu beliau berharap kerajaan negeri Johor dapat memulakan persiapan awal khususnya dalam mengenalpasti keperluan infrastruktur bagi penganjuran Sukma ke-20 nanti.

“Perancangan awal untuk membentuk atlet-atlet yang akan mewakili negeri masing-masing haruslah dilaksanakan secepat mungkin khususnya dalam mencungkil bakat-bakat sukan yang baru,’’ katanya.
