KUALA LUMPUR, 2 Dis (BERNAMA) | UMNO bersetuju dengan cadangan pembentukan Majlis Presiden Perikatan Nasional (PN) sebagai platform membincangkan dasar-dasar kerajaan dan mengukuhkan kerjasama antara parti, kata Setiausaha Agungnya Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

Beliau berkata penubuhan majlis itu dicadangkan UMNO kerana ia penting bagi memutuskan perkara berkaitan dasar-dasar kerajaan, sekali gus mengelakkan parti itu daripada ketinggalan maklumat kerana Presiden UMNO Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi tidak berada dalam kabinet kerajaan.

“Sebenarnya cadangan Majlis Presiden ini kami (UMNO) sendiri utarakan. Saya diminta mewakili presiden dalam satu perjumpaan dengan perdana menteri dan menyuarakan cadangan ini kira-kira lebih sebulan lepas,” katanya kepada Bernama di Bangunan Parlimen. 

Setiausaha Agung PN Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin dalam satu kenyataan hari ini berkata mesyuarat Majlis Tertinggi PN semalam bersetuju membentuk Majlis Presiden yang akan dianggotai oleh semua ketua parti kerajaan PN.

Mengenai Pilihan Raya Kecil (PRK) Parlimen Gerik dan Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Bugaya, Ahmad mencadangkan supaya darurat dilaksanakan di Bugaya seperti di Parlimen Batu Sapi manakala bagi PRK Gerik boleh dipertimbangkan mengikut keadaan semasa situasi COVID-19 negara.

Katanya memandangkan Gerik merupakan zon hijau, PRK boleh dilaksanakan mengikut prosedur operasi standard (SOP) ketat termasuk tanpa kempen rumah ke rumah.

“UMNO telah beberapa kali melakukan perbincangan mengenai pelaksanaan PRK Gerik dengan kerajaan negeri Perak tetapi hingga kini belum ada sebarang keputusan dibuat termasuk mengenai calon,” katanya.

Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya sebelum ini menetapkan PRK Parlimen Gerik dan DUN Bugaya diadakan serentak pada 16 Jan 2021.

Kedua-dua kerusi berkenaan kosong susulan kematian penyandang Allahyarham Datuk Hasbullah Osman (Barisan Nasional-Gerik) dan Allahyarham Datin Manis Muka Mohd Darah (Warisan-Bugaya).
