KUALA LUMPUR | Sebuah dasar buangan sisa marin akan diwujudkan bagi menyelesaikan masalah sisa plastik yang mencemarkan laut dan pantai, menurut Menteri Tenaga, Sains, Teknologi, Alam Sekitar dan Perubahan Iklim Yeo Bee Yin seperti yang dilaporkan oleh portal Free Malaysia Today hari ini.

Katanya, pengurusan sisa plastik yang tidak efektif mengakibatkan pencemaran.

Beliau berkata dasar itu juga akan selari dengan Deklarasi Bangkok mengenai Mengatasi Serangan Marin di Wilayah Asean dan Rangka Tindakan Asean mengenai Sisa Marin, yang diguna pakai semasa Sidang Kemuncak Asean pada 22 Jun.

Beliau menjawab soalan Dr Ahmad Azam Hamzah di Dewan Negara mengenai apa yang dilakukan oleh kerajaan untuk mengawal penggunaan plastik yang mencemarkan alam sekitar, terutama kehidupan marin.

Yeo berkata kerajaan sedang giat memjalankan operasi pelbagai agensi di pelabuhan utama di seluruh negara untuk mengelakkan import haram plastik.

Antaranya mengambil langkah penguatkuasaan terhadap kilang-kilang kitar semula plastik yang beroperasi tanpa lesen atau melanggar undang-undang.

Beliau berkata 175 kilang yang melanggar Akta Kualiti Alam Sekeliling 1974 telah diarah menghentikan operasi mereka.
