Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia mengatakan ia akan menyiasat beberapa insiden besar berkaitan komunikasi, termasuk sekatan ke atas beberapa laman web pada malam pengiraan undi – seperti Live.undi.info yang dikelolakan oleh sebuah portal dalam talian popular.

Menterinya, Gobind Singh Deo, berkata ia juga akan mengumpul laporan mengenai serangan bot telefon bimbit pada hari pengundian, yang memberi kesan kepada ahli politik dan calon di kedua² belah pihak, serta pelanggaran data telekomunikasi besar-besaran yang melibatkan 46.2 juta data peribadi rakyat Malaysia, yang mula dibongkar tahun lalu oleh laman forum lowyat.net.

“Kami juga meneliti cadangan untuk mengkaji semula Akta Komunikasi dan Multimedia 1998, dengan cadangan pindaan terhadap undang-undang akan dipertimbangkan,” katanya dalam satu kenyataan.

“Saya akan menghubungi pengasas bersama dan pengarah eksekutif Peguam untuk Liberty, Eric Paulsen dan Majlis Peguam untuk perbincangan mengenai proses ini,” katanya.
