PARLIMEN | Kementerian Dalam Negeri diperkirakan akan membeli kira-kira 2,000 unit kamera yang dipasang pada badan untuk pegawai polis tahun depan, Dewan Rakyat diberitahu.

Dalam jawapan bertulis parlimen, Kementerian Dalam Negeri mengatakan bahawa penggunaan kamera yang dipakai pada badan oleh pegawai dalam operasi lapangan akan mengelakkan tuduhan salah laku yang dilemparkan kepada pasukan polis dan membantu melindungi imejnya.

“Permintaan untuk projek Roll-Plan Kamera Badan 1 (RP1) di bawah RMK-12 untuk polis Fasa 1 akan melibatkan perolehan sejumlah 2,168 unit kamera 4G yang dipakai di badan.

“Pembelian peranti tersebut diharapkan dapat dilaksanakan tahun depan,” kata kementerian itu menjawab pertanyaan yang diajukan oleh Oscar Ling (PH-DAP) pada hari Khamis (19 Nov).

Ling meminta Kementerian Dalam Negeri menjelaskan rancangannya untuk melengkapi setiap petugas dengan kamera tubuh untuk menghindari tuduhan penyalahgunaan kuasa dan rasuah.

Kementerian Dalam Negeri mengatakan bahawa kerajaan tetap komited untuk menguatkuasakan polisi untuk menggunakan kamera yang dipakai di badan untuk memastikan ketelusan, mengurangkan aduan penyalahgunaan kuasa atau rasuah dalam anggota polis.
