KOTA KINABALU (Bernama) | Masalah capaian Internet termasuk di Sabah yang memerlukan penambahbaikan liputan dan perkhidmatan lebih baik sememangnya dalam radar kerajaan, kata Menteri Komunikasi dan Multimedia Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.

Beliau berkata antara masalah yang dikenal pasti adalah kekurangan menara telekomunikasi selain kedudukan geografi, namun itu bukan alasan untuk tidak merancang serta menambah baik perkhidmatan untuk diakses masyarakat khasnya golongan belia.

“Tentulah peluasan capaian Internet itu penting kerana ia akan dapat memberikan keselesaan kepada pengguna. Kita tahu wujud masalah seperti kedudukan geografi, kawasan bukit bukau, lurah hingga anak muda tidak boleh akses kepada Internet.

“Anak muda termasuk di Sabah, sangat-sangat memerlukannya. Kita sedar masalah itu dan akan cuba atasinya,” katanya selepas merasmikan pejabat baharu Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia (MCMC) Sabah dan Labuan hari ini yang turut dihadiri Pengerusi MCMC Dr Fadhlullah Suhaimi Abdul Malek. 

Saifuddin berkata adalah menjadi hasrat kerajaan Perikatan Nasional (PN) untuk meningkatkan capaian Internet di seluruh negara termasuk di Sabah dan kerana itu Gerbang Sabah, yang merupakan komponen penting Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA) dilancarkan di Negeri di Bawah Bayu ini semalam. 

 Gerbang Sabah adalah titik sambungan Internet antara Sabah serta seluruh dunia yang bakal merancakkan lagi pembangunan dan kemajuan negeri ini, selain mempersiap rakyat untuk menghadapi masa depan berlandaskan inovasi dan teknologi.

Saifuddin berkata MCMC juga diminta membantu meningkatkan dan mengoptimumkan penggunaan 135 Pusat Internet Komuniti di Sabah dan Labuan selain memperbaiki kelengkapan, meningkatkan kandungan termasuk kursus di pusat tersebut.
