KUALA LUMPUR | Kerajaan tidak akan dapat membayar gaji penjawat awam dan bantuan untuk barisan hadapan jika Belanjawan 2021 tidak disetujui oleh Dewan Rakyat.

Menteri Kewangan Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz berkata, bagaimanapun, beliau optimis bahawa Belanjawan yang melibatkan perbelanjaan operasi dan pembangunan yang difokuskan untuk membantu rakyat dan memulihkan perniagaan dan ekonomi negara, akan disetujui.

“Bagi saya, jika Belanjawan ini dapat membantu negara kita, maka tidak ada alasan untuk tidak disetujui, atau ditolak (di Dewan Rakyat).

Sekiranya ia ditolak, dari segi ekonomi, kita tidak akan dapat membiayai komitmen kerajaan, termasuk mengeluarkan bantuan kepada rakyat, “katanya pada sidang media di Wisma Bernama di sini hari ini.

Kenyataan beliau bagaimanapun mendapat perhatian bekas Speaker Dewan Rakyat, Nga Kor Ming yang membuat hantaran di akaun Twitter bahawa ia satu jenis ugutan dengan meletakkan petugas barisan hadapan dalam bahaya.

“Daripada mendengar suara rakyat & meningkatkan peruntukan, kerajaan pintu belakang memilih untuk mengugut & cuba untuk meletakkan barisan hadapan dalam bahaya di masa sukar ini. Ini adalah suatu yang sangat buruk. Rakyat Malaysia berhak mendapat yang lebih baik, “ciap beliau.
