IPOH: Sahabat Alam Malaysia (SAM) mempersoal ‘Green Destination’ menilai dan mengiktiraf Taiping sebagai Antara 100 Destinasi Mampan 2018.

Menurut Presiden SAM, S.M. Mohamed Idris, berdasarkan tinjauan SAM di sekitar bandar Taiping baru-baru ini mendapati pelaksanaan beberapa kegiatan pembangunan tidak mesra alam dan mampan terutama pembangunan di lereng yang berkecerunan 25°.

Katanya, tinjauan SAM ialah di kawasan perbukitan Jalan Kamunting Lama, Jalan Bukit Mas, kawasan berhampiran kolam simpanan air Lembaga Air Perak, Kamunting serta kawasan perbukitan berhampiran Taman Kuningsari, Air Kuning.

“Adakah kegiatan-kegiatan pembangunan tersebut mematuhi beberapa garis panduan seperti Garis Panduan Perancangan Perumahan (GP001-A) dan garis panduan lain seperti untuk mengambil bahan batuan (kuari)?

“Sesuatu perancangan perumahan perlu mengambil kira elemen-elemen seperti kesesuaian tapak, pemeliharaan topografi dan alam semula-jadi agar tidak memberi kesan negatif kepada alam sekitar dan kesejahteraan masyarakat setempat.’’ Katanya dalam satu kenyataan pada Isnin.

Sebagai contoh katanya, berdasarkan Bahagian A, Perkara 6 iv) Prinsip Perancangan: Alam Sekitar Semula-jadi Yang Terpelihara, Garis Panduan Perancangan Perumahan (GP001-A), pembangunan perumahan perlu mengambil-kira pemeliharaan topografi, pengekalan dan penyesuaian dengan persekitaran semula-jadi.

“Adakah pihak ‘Green Destination’ telah turun padang dan meninjau ke setiap kawasan di Taiping dan persekitarannya sebelum memberi pengiktirafan?’’ katanya.

Menurut beliau, SAM juga mempersoal adakah ‘Green Destination’ sebuah badan atau organisasi piawaian dan akreditasi yang diiktiraf.

Oleh itu, SAM berharap kepada semua Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan (PBT) umumnya supaya lebih peka kepada setiap permohonan pemajuan pembangunan dan perancangan guna-tanah agar tidak memberi kesan negatif kepada alam sekitar dan kesejahteraan masyarakat setempat.
