IPOH: Menteri Besar Perak, Ahmad Faizal Azumu mahukan semua pihak berkuasa tempatan (PBT) di negeri ini menggunakan bahasa Melayu yang betul dalam sebarang papan tanda dan iklan.

Justeru itu katanya, bagi mengelak penggunaan Bahasa Melayu yang tidak tepat dalam papan tanda dan iklan, mereka perlu mendapat kelulusan Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) terlebih dahulu.

Bagaimanapun menurut Ahmad Faizal, perkara itu masih di peringkat cadangan dimana beliau akan membawanya dalam Mesyuarat Exco untuk perbincangan lebih lanjut.

Sebelum ini beliau difahamkan tahap penggunaan Bahasa Melayu di papan tanda, iklan, banting dan sebagainya masih berada pada tahap rendah dan perlu dipertingkatkan lagi.

“Setelah berbincang dengan Ketua Pengarah DBP, satu keputusan yang dibuat adalah untuk memastikan papan tanda dengan permit dari PBT mestilah mendapat kelulusan DBP.

“Kalau boleh selepas ini, kita tidak mahu ada lagi papan iklan mahupun papan tanda menggunakan Bahasa Melayu yang salah.

“Semua papan tanda yang menggunakan dialek boleh digunakan tetapi bertepatan dengan penggunaan aslinya,” katanya dalam satu sidang media semasa menghadiri Pertandingan Forum Institut Pendidikan Guru Peringkat Kebangsaan Piala Menteri Besar Perak pada Khamis.

Menurut Ahmad Faizal, penggunaan Bahasa Melayu yang longgar pada papan tanda yang sedia ada mestilah dikaji semula supaya dapat memartabatkan Bahasa Melayu dengan cara yang betul.
